Welcome to the second NCIndex. We appreciate the kind words that greeted
our release of our first issue.
In this issue we have reports on education, Governor Easley's job performance,
reelection of North Carolina's U.S. House of Representatives, plus the
continuing tracking of President Bush's job performance. We also look
at North Carolinians' support of American manufacturing and, therefore,
American jobs.
We
are adding a new page of links to other sites
of interest. We will soon be adding new stories.
Information from the NCIndex is electronically available free of charge,
and contains a general summary of the public poll findings.
A more detailed report is also available for those who purchase an annual
subscription. This extensive written report includes more detailed analysis,
as well as additional information not publicly available. To learn more
about subscription rates, contact Carl Clark at 704-596-8174.

Request
for Articles
We
are adding a news page that will be updated on a frequent basis with interesting
links. Our hope is to make this a community-based site so we would like
you to help us find useful articles. We are looking for political news
from around the country, but with an emphasis on the American South and
especially North Carolina.
Let us emphasize that we are not interested in "Bash Bush" or
"Republicans are Bums" articles. These articles have their place
and there are plenty of web sites that do a good job of getting them out.
We are primarily interested in the following:
1) Poll based articles and reports
2) Campaign craft articles
3) Issue based articles, but from a practical perspective - for example,
we are not really interested in articles about the rightness or wrongness
of the war in Iraq. We want articles describing how the war
will figure as an issue in elections -- or how it can be used by Democrats
as an electoral issue.
4) News about campaigns and county party activities.
In addition, we welcome original articles about any of these subjects.
We will also run a special series of articles. For the first of these
we invite supporters of the various Democratic Presidential candidates
to send us articles putting forth why they are supporting that particular
candidate.
We want the articles to be specific (no claims that "Candidate X
is the only one who can beat Bush": we want you to tell us why that
candidate is the only one that can beat Bush). We will start running articles
as soon as we receive any and will continue running them through the South
Carolina primary on February 3. Submit your articles in the body of an
email to ncindex@southernpolitics.net.
Please put "candidate story" in the subject line.
Additionally, the articles
need to be brief. We are not going to be hard-nosed about this, but any
article over 750 words will have to be pretty brilliant to make the site.
We
hope you will find this feature useful and enjoyable.Let us know at ncindex@southernpolitics.net. |
